07/25/2024 at 11:43:11 CDTThis is also something that's an issue for anyone who uses the SafeNet Authentication Client for hardware certificate token-based authentication. The default installer includes an "anti-keylogging" component that injects itself into every application it can. I recently had to deal with this on a user's laptop because this AKL thing was flagging as malware and preventing Acrobat Reader, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox from opening for her, which basically crippled her.
to fix it I had to completely uninstall the software that included the Thales SafeNet Authentication Client then reinstall with the special secondary installer that installs the non-AKL version.

Supposedly they know how to detect the issue and not all the chips are affected, but they're pulling everything back that was already shipped out to retailers to test every part individually
the official line is "some of the CPU's are not up to our quality standards"
Sounds like AMD is learning from Intel's mistakes and trying to make damn sure they don't have the same PR mess

so I just converted (this morning, to be clear, so about 8 hours ago) one of my raspberry pi's from 32-bit to 64-bit, with no clamav and with our new antivirus product installed. The 32-bit clamav pi's sit at over 1 GB RAM used (on a 2 GB pi) all the time. The 64-bit one is sitting at 250 MB RAM used.
and there's more crap running on the 64-bit system than there was on the 32 bit. It must be that clamav is just that much of a memory hog

if windows update ran during the night, why didn't it do all this shit too, instead waiting for me. wasting my time

08/01/2024 at 14:40:42 CDTwhat sucks is that, because microsoft archived a lot of their goal to unify everything, except for touch-interface... there's no real enterprise version anymore
why does enterprise version have game bar
and tiktok recommendations
and if we talking about enterprise. We have tons of computers that's headless or used for specific purpose, because we haven't added OneDrive, Office, etc. it ask to "set it up" after windows update at times, usually once a month or so.... and even if you do the process of making a microsoft linked account, because you're not using it daily, windows will ask you to sign in after windows update every other month.
renegadevi
08/01/2024 at 14:50:55 CDTand I think a important thing is for companies to actually use their own products, if they don't, they don't see the issues to bring that to the table, to get advanced.. why is Jim zemlin, head of of linux foundation using Mac? why is microsoft using mostly linux servers now instead of windows. oh also, windows phone died, as per Satya Nadella and other leaders used Android, so why make their own product better.
other times, we see people leave companies, ending up at other companies that wanted to fix and improve things they couldn't
and as Wendell pointed out in the video. Why OneDrive cloud backups? enterprise would often may have a have a local NAS or secondary storage solution at a cloud privoder
