This is also something that's an issue for anyone who uses the SafeNet Authentication Client for hardware certificate token-based authentication. The default installer includes an "anti-keylogging" component that injects itself into every application it can. I recently had to deal with this on a user's laptop because this AKL thing was flagging as malware and preventing Acrobat Reader, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox from opening for her, which basically crippled her.

...I am seriously tired of applications spamming the hell out of me with stupid notifications as soon as I open them and preventing me from doing work....like sublime text just did for package control updates....I opened the app to edit a text file, not to be bothered with notifications that don't matter

anyone know of a way to edit an initramfs image relatively easily?

nevermind, 30 seconds after I asked that I remembered the initramfs has the mount command available, so I was able to mount the sd card partitions and fix everything.

So intel has their 13xxx and 14xxx issues....AMD was supposed to release their desktop 9xxx chips this coming Wednesday, but they pushed it back 2 weeks saying they found an issue in last-minute validation. Supposedly they know how to detect the issue and not all the chips are affected, but they're pulling everything back that was already shipped out to retailers to test every part individually

and people wonder why i've been an amd support for so long 😄

I remember Skylake shipped with broken iGPU drivers, untested, and they said it worked with Win7 "certified for" sold via OEMs . Took like 8 months before fixing bluescreen when any GPU-intensive software kicked in. We had to return a pack of 15 computers and buy the previous gen. Then Kaby Lake worked but ran fast and hot, hot and not much improvement.

The foundry thing, when it was announced, was projected to lose money for 5 years before becoming profitable
